summer is over

Well, no sunny (burning) Portugal for me this Summer.
I had to cancel my next week holidays. Too many things at work at the moment.

There will always be sunbeds anyway. (right...)

softball is fun

Yesterday I was part of a typical Midwest postcard. Those images you seen in the movies of the guys playing softball - lots of adrenaline and testosterone - and the parents watching the game and grilling sausages for hot dogs for after the game. I had 6 cans of Bud and got home at 10.

I spent the whole time thinking that Filipe would have loved it.
Filipe, I recommend that if you get fed up of Barcelona (I'm sure you are by now) you come to Minnesota to live. You can go fishing, do snow sports, play softball, and hang out with the guys. aw'right.

It's exploring-Minneapolis-nightlife night for me tonight. Wish me luck.
Tomorrow I'm flying back to London at 7pm to arrive in London next day at 9am. That's another journey I'm looking forward. Hopefully this time the movie will be Sandra-Bullock-free.

more concerts in London

God bless America

After an 8-hour flight where the highlights were watching Miss Congeniality 2 and eating a whole giant bag of Maltesers, I arrived at Minneapolis.
I was tired and grumpy, but the weather was very non-London (i.e. sunny and warm) so that cheered me up a bit.

Then I had to stay in customs for an hour, where I was scanned, fingerprinted, photographed, and interviewed. They suspected I was onto something. I think it's because I wear hats and talk funny.

Eden Prairie is a suburban city, so everyone is middle class, drive a 4x4 or a pick-up truck, and is overweight. Everyone is overweight.
I've just been to the mall. There are lots of American young kids with obnoxious good dress sense. Bought m'self a pair of green All-Star, Sufjan Stevens' Illinoise CD [rare edition that is being withdrawn because of copyright issued due to Superman on the cover], and a copy of Black Book magazine. Great.

I'm staying in a Marriott hotel where all rooms are suites. I have a room with two double beds, a small kitchen, a living room and a huge bathroom. All for myself. What a waste. Mental note: should invite people for a sex fest.

Work is cool. Meetings and training today. Everyone is IT-normal. They spend the day talking about softball and american football. But then I met the company's crazy girl and the company's cross-dresser. That was exciting.

No one realises I'm not English. They think all people from the UK speak weird like I do.

walk from brick lane

How amazing is it when you can walk half drunk home and be in bed in 15 minutes time? very much indeed!
i live 10 minutes from Brick Lane. Hoorah!

Good to see Bea from Barcelona this weekend at the Isle Of MTV party, she looked great as usual... a bit drunk half-way through it though. Great to see Matthew Herbert just hanging around. Juliet live was good. The Kills were ok. The party itself was full of wankers and fashionistas. But, thou mustn't say no to free parties and drinks.
